I If you haven’t taken a road tr to West coast or South of Norway, then this post is essential for you.

1- 50 shades of green. The abundance of the nature is impressive. I can’t get enough of this vivid light green on the grass and trees. As you drive along the fjords in Sogn og Fjordane and Innlandet, near Lom, you see that the water is turquoise. They make our car trip look magical. I know that Norwegian flag is red, blue and white, but green symbolizes Norway for me, due to the Northern Lights and nature in the Summer. I don’t know if you know, but that’s why I have green as my site and Instagram profile’s main color. And it’s my favorite color.

2- Tunnels. Norway has countless tunnels. Did you know that Lærdal tunnel is the world’s longest road tunnel? It’s in Aurland, between Oslo and Bergen.

3- Waterfalls. Small and big. They’re everywhere. Did you know that 10 of the world’s highest waterfalls are located in Norway? Take some time to stop and admire these breathtaking landscapes.

4- People bathing in fjords, rivers, sea. There are several waterparks in Norway which are extremely popular in the Summer. Check out my posts about bathing in Norway, by clicking here.

5- Self service Kiosks. Norwegian culture is based on trust. Along the roads, specially small ones, you’ll see kiosks selling cherries, strawberries and the like. You take a bowl, you set the money in a box or transfer money online (in Norway, the app is called Vipps) and you’re good to go. I love it and I hope it continues like that.

6- Ferries. Norwegian coast is rich in mountains and fjords. That’s why, when you drive from Bergen to Stavanger, for example, you need to take two ferries. There are also countless islands and you take hurtigboat.

7- Snow. And glaciers, actually. Ice doesn’t melt completely up in the mountains. You see ten, fifteen square meteres snow islands among the beautiful green grass. Check my Instagram for amazing pictures. Click here.

8- Narrow roads. By narrow, I mean there’s-no-way-two-cars-can-drive-here-at-the-same-time. Many times, we must reverse until a broader place and wait. Be patient.

9- Sheep. I don’t mean on the farm meadows. I mean along the road, sometimes ON the road. Be prepared to stop the car and wait for these cuties to cross. I just love Norway in the Summer.

10- Motorhomes and trailers everywhere. Many of them are rented by people who aren’t used to driving these kinds of vehicles. That means exciting moments on narrow roads.

I hope you liked the post. Feel free to comment here your wishes for posts and your questions.

Enjoy Norway!
