My List of 10 Best Cafes in Stavanger, Norway, 2022. Minhas 10 Cafeterias favoritas em Stavanger 2022.

I love coffee, capuccino, latte and hot chocolate. Luckily, I’m not alone. Stavanger has a cool cafe culture. A nice cafe to me is a cozy place to enjoy myself alone or in good company. What I appreciate in a cafe is: good coffee (of course), cozy atmosphere, good service, decent toilets.

Did you know that Norwegians rank second place in the world in coffee consumption? Finland comes first (for now). As a Brazilian, it makes me realize that I’ve chosen the right place to live and make a home.

I like to spend my Saturdays downtown in Stavanger, which is a charming area with a variety of places to have brunch. We see families with babies and children, retired couples, young people, tourists. It’s quite popular, rain or shine.

As an immigrant in Norway, I like to create new bonds here and the Cafes are perfect places for me. I have already some good memories from these I’ve chosen to show you.

If you’re visiting Stavanger or living here, you have to give these cafes a try.

Before we get to the business, there are important information about Cafe visiting in Stavanger:

• Usually:
• You enter the Cafe, go to the counter, order and pay. Then you find a place to sit.
• You choose to offer tips or not when you order. The machine will show the price and you type how much you will pay. Then you type your code. It’s up to you.
• Water is free. There’s a sink and glasses usually near the counter. Help yourself.
• Black coffee prices vary between 30 and 55 NOK. Here’s my top list for you.
• Not all Cafes are open on Sundays. Check their website for opening hours.

1. Koko Cafe. This is my ultimate found. I was at a birthday lunch when I got tips to check this new place in town. What a great surprise I had! They know their business. I was thinking of ordering my usual types of coffee: capuccino or latte, when I saw they had today’s coffee. It was a tray with three different origins: Kenya, Peru and Ethiopia. Tasty! Staff were helpful, informing us about the coffee types and all. In August 2022, I paid 55NOK on a cup of black coffee (today’s coffee). Here’s their Instagram.

2. Kanelsnurret. One of the tings I like the most about a Cafe is being able to hang out there, not just eat and leave. I was on a girls trip with my three recent besties. We were new friends and needed time to talk and get to know each other. I chose Kanelsnurret ’cause I had seen two little girls leaving the place while eating croissants. They looked so happy that I thought: “Boy, I’m soooo going there one day.” So I was finally there and guess what? It was wonderful. It was a Sunny Sunday and the staff was attentive and quick. I had cappuccino but I tasted Erinice’s today’s coffee. It was really good. Black coffee cost 38NOK in August 2022. So here’s the link. Enjoy

3. Godt Brød Sølvberget. The staff is attentive. Capuccino and Latte are equally tasty. They bake good bread (like the name of the brand) and I also like their sweet bread (boller). What to eat: the sandwiches that you choose the bread, sauce and ingredients from a buffet are delicious. I like the humus sauce. At Søregate 4. Stavanger Sentrum.

4. Ostehuset. It’s a chain from Stavanger. There are many options for breakfast, lunch and dinner like quiches, salads, sandwiches and soups. The one downtown usually gets crowded on Saturdays. I have gone there after 11 and the quinoa salad was sold out. I prefer the shop in Hinna because it’s cozier. I’ve been there countless times with good friends and with my husband.

5. Steam Kaffebar Stavanger. It’s a charming place on a busy corner of the main street downtown. The coffee and capuccino are both good. The Saturday we went there, the owner was very attentive. We were sitting outside and the sunlight was strong (yes, it happens once in a while in Stavanger) and he came in a hurry to open the umbrella and make sure we were pleased. At Klubbgata 6.

6. Renaa Xpress Sølvberget. The one at the library. It’s on the ground floor of the library building. The library itself is a must go. What a nice atmosphere. If you like pizza, then it’s a place for you. I’ve been there before or after a movie, in the middle of the day, in the evening. It’s the most family friendly Cafe downtown I know. After eating you can visit the library with your kids, or go to the movies downstairs. I like their capuccino as well as latte. They also sell baker goods and ice cream. They offer delivery system Downtown in Stavanger. One thing I’ll never forget: it was there I had one of my first meetings when I was about to create this blog. Here’s the link.

7. Sørmarka Café. It’s located at a sports gymnasium with ice rink for ice skating, hockey and curling in the Winter, climbing walls year round, exhibitions in the warmer months. The Cafe is super cozy, with a fireplace and sofas in addition to wooden tables. Staff is very attentive. They were kind enough to sell me and my friend two capuccinos before the opening time. We had our babies with us and had walked all the way there. It’s family friendly. What to eat: sandwiches, baker goods and pizza, hot and cold drinks. Here’s the link.

8. Bøker og Børst. The last but not least. It is located on Fargegata (The color street). All the Cafes on Fargegata street are amazing and worth going to. This one has board games and books for the customers to enjoy while being there. The toilet is one of the coolest I know, with cute vintage wallpapers and books. We went there yesterday. I have fresh news about the Corona measures. Like many places nowadays, we find a table and sit. Then we scan the menu and order online, write the table number, select the tips to give, and pay with Vipps. A few minutes later, the waitress comes with our order. Here’s the link.

9. Flamingo. I went coffee tasting with my friend Carol one Saturday in August 2022 downtown in Stavanger. One important stop was at Flamingo. It was only when we entered that I understood why I was recommended this place. It’s complete! The salad bowls looked super tasty. (For the record: I love quinoa.) My friend was already so high on caffeine that she’d rather have a smoothie instead. I tried iced latte with hazelnut cream. What to say? It was really worth it. There are tables upstairs and a few ones downstairs. Attentive staff and our orders didn’t take long time. Definitely worth a visit.

10. Matmagasinet. It was my first cafe in Stavanger. We started this Saturday Sentrum visit and always stopped there. The address has changed but the coffee with cream is still delicious. At Niels Juels Gate 50.

11. Bonus: Chilli Chocolate. If coffee is not your thing, you must try this cocoa: chili chocolate! I get sad every time I pass by in a hurry and can’t get one. Please try it and tell me after. Você sabia que os noruegueses estão em segundo lugar no mundo em consumo de café? Logo atrás dos finlandeses. Isso te surpreendeu? A mim também. Felizmente. Eu adoro café, como boa brasileira. Felizmente, os noruegueses também adoram. Sentar numa cafeteria para mim, tem que ser aconchegante, uma vivência além de tomar um bom café ou capuccino, café latte, chocolate quente, etc. Aqui em Stavanger há várias opções de Cafeterias legais. Se estiver visitando, ou mesmo morando, vale a pena conferir e se deliciar.

Meus requisitos básicos para redigir essa lista foram: sabor do café (obviamente) e comida, ambiente aconchegante, garçons atenciosos e gentis, atendimento rápido, banheiros decentes. Além disso, a lista foi criada baseada nas minhas boas vivências. Como imigrante, vou criando novas memórias e vínculos em Stavanger, conhecendo novos lugares que me tragam a boa sensação de aconchego. Eis a minha lista pra você:

1. Godt Brød Sølvberget. Já gostei de cara porque é administrado por uma brasileira, de Santos. Todos os atendentes são simpáticos. O pão é de fabricação própria, assim como os pães doces deliciosos, os famosos boller. Gosto dos sanduíches montados que a gente escolhe os ingredientes na hora. Peço o meu sempre com humus. O capuccino é uma delícia. Ambiente aconchegante. Costuma lotar aos sábados. Fica na rua Søregata 4.
2. Koko Café. Fina no centro de Stavanger, ao pé da rua colorida, a famosa Fargegaten. Foi muito impressionante entrar lá. Eles realmente entendem do babado. Tinha sacas enormes de café logo na entrada. Quando subimos para fazer o pedido, vimos três garrafas de café chamado Café do dia. Uma vinda do Kenya, uma do Peru e uma da Etiópia. Provei a do Kenya e adorei! O refil é grátis. Paguei 55NOK pelo café. Minha amiga pediu capuccino e adorou. esse café nos foi recomendado pela garçonete de um restaurante. são as melhores indicações, na minha opinião. Aqui está o link do Instagram deles.
3. Kanelsnurret é uma rede de cafeterias em Stavanger e região. A primeira vez que eu entrei, vi duas meninas saindo de lá com croissants nas mãos. Elas pareciam tão felizes, que eu não titubeei: entrei. Vantagens: abre aos domingos (algumas lojas), funcionários atenciosos e rápidos, café simples a preço acessível (paguei 38NOK), boller e outros pães deliciosos. Aqui está o link do site.
4. Matmagasinet. Foi o nosso primeiro Café em Stavanger. A gente começou essa cultura de visitar o centro aos sábados desde o primeiro ano aqui. O endereço mudou, mas o café com creme continua igualmente incrível. Endereço: Niels Juels gate 50.
5. Osterhuset. É uma rede de cafeterias/restaurantes de Stavanger. Opções saudáveis de saladas a sopas, passando também por quiches e pão doce. A loja do centro fica sempre cheia, tem que ter paciência. Eu prefiro a de Hinna, mais aconchegante. Já estive lá inúmeras vezes com minhas melhores amigas e com meu marido.
6. Steam Kaffebar Stavanger. Café, capuccino, pães doces, tudo que eu provei estava uma delícia. Ambiente aconchegante e bem decorado. O dono foi muito atencioso conosco. Nossa mesa lá fora, estava sendo castigada pelo sol forte (sim, existe isso em Stavanger, tipo 10 dias no ano). Ele veio correndo abrir o guarda sol. Fica ali na Klubbgata, em frente ao shopping Arkaden.
7. Renaa Xpress Sølveberg. Fica no andar térreo do prédio da biblioteca. Esse prédio todo é muito legal e vale a pena visitar. Pra quem é fã de pizza, esse é lugar certo. Gosto do Café Latte de lá. Tem também sorvete, boller e muito mais. É excelente para mamães e bebês. Outra vantagem: eles tem delivery para o centro da cidade. O link está aqui.
8. Sørmarka Café. Fica num local onde tem rinque de patinação, hockey no gelo e curling no inverno, parede de escaladas o ano todo e feiras e exposições nos meses mais quentes do ano. A cafeteria é super aconchegante, com lareira e sofás, além das mesas de madeira maciça. Uma vez, fui lá com uma amiga, ambas com nossos bebês. Chegamos sedentas por um capuccino. Qual não foi nossa surpresa: o lugar ainda estava fechado. O garçom foi super atencioso, fez dois capuccinos pra gente assim mesmo. Nota mil.
9. Bøker og Børst. Fica na Fargegata, uma rua mega charmosa com casas multicoloridas. Já fui a todos os Cafés de lá. Esse em especial, não sei porque. Talvez pela atmosfera, os livros e jogos disponíveis, o banheiro estiloso com livros e móveis vintage, os múltiplos ambientes. Já tive reuniões de trabalho e também me encontrei com antigos e novos amigos nesse lugar. A gente vai criando vínculos novos na nova cidade; não é uma delícia?
10. Flamingo Café. Pensa em um lugar colorido, acolhedor, onde você olha tem algo interessante na decoração. O Flamingo tem três andares. Tem cafés tradicionais e também café gelado. Eu provei o Iced Latte com creme de avelã. Delicioso. Eles oferecem um menu variado, saudável e os pratos são bonitos e bem servidos. A salada de quinoa deu água na boca só de ver. 11. Chilli Chocolate. Pára tudo! É o melhor chocolate quente que eu já provei na vida. Com um toque de pimenta. Sério. Prove e me diga depois se não é mara. Além disso tem diversos chocolates para dar de presente e para comer lá mesmo. link aqui
