In addition to the breathtaking views, abundant nature, hiking trails, clean public toilets, cute villages, awesome bathing in fjords, there’s more you should expect from a road trip in Norway.
Sheep and other animals near or on the roads. Specially near the mountains and farms. Watch out for animals. Drive carefully and enjoy.
Traffic jam due to roads being repaired. Last year we decided to drive in the evening to avoid traffic. The nightmare was even worse. There were two tunnels being repaired. It was the only way to get to the city we were heading to. No other options. We stayed in a traffic jam for about two hours. We had to pee somewhere in the bushes.
Long queues for the ferry. Summer is popular among Norwegian tourists. Be prepared.
Bridge closed due to strong winds. It happened this week in Haugesund. Let https://www.yr.no/ be your travel buddy. Check the weather forecast in good time before you leave.
Huge motorhomes on narrow roads. Narrow roads are super common all over Norway. I know. But it’s cultural. Accepting it will make you happier. Plan ahead as you drive on narrow roads. There’s always wider stretches along the roads. Stop if you need to.
Cyclists. Cycling is very popular specially in the Summer.

Convid-19 measures. Public toilets are open. Restaurants and hotels as well. Just keep the 1-meter distance in mind and use antibac or wash your hands before and after entering a place. We have two in the car. We’ve made a habit to use antibac each time we enter our car.
Beware of low speed limits many places, many tolls and tunnels.
What to bring in your bag. Both Winter and Summer clothes. Seriously, in Norway, you never know what the weather will be like in July. It can be Sunny and windy with low temperature, rainy and warm, Sunny and very warm like bathing in the fjords warm, hot like I-need-air-conditioning hot. My bag has from wool socks, cardigan, waterproof jacket, hiking boots to nice dress, shorts, sunscreen and bikini.

Além das paisagens deslumbrantes, natureza abundante, trilhas de caminhada, nadar nos fiordes incríveis, banheiros públicos limpos, vilarejos fofos, há outras coisas que você precisa saber antes de embarcar numa viagem de carro pela Noruega.
Ovelhas e outros animais pela estrada. Principalmente se for dirigir pelas montanhas ou perto de fazendas, elas andam livremente e podem estar sentadas ou andando pelas estradas. Tenha cautela.
Engarrafamento devido a obras na estrada. Ano passado nós decidimos viajar à noite pra evitar trânsito. O pesadelo foi ainda pior. Dois túneis estavam em obras. Era o único caminho para a cidade que iríamos. Nós ficamos presos por mais de duas horas numa fila quilométrica. Tivemos que nos enfiar no mato pra fazer xixi. Planeja a viagem contando com esses percalços.
Filas longas para pegar a balsa. O verão é alta estação para os noruegueses viajarem de carro. Pode acontecer.
Motorhomes enormes em estradas estreitas. Eu sei, as estradas aqui são ilogicamente estreitas. Procuro aceitar, pra sofrer menos. É cultural. Lembre-se que tem aqueles møteplass ao longo das estradas. São partes mais largas. Vá prestando atenção onde elas estão caso precise dar ré para que ambos carros passem.
Pontes fechadas devido a forte ventania. Aconteceu essa semana em Haugesund. Sempre vale checar a previsão do tempo. Faça do yr.no seu melhor amigo. Aqui na Noruega é preciso planejar com antecedência e ficar de olho na meteorologia.
Ciclistas na estrada. Super comum aqui.

Covid-19. Os restaurantes e hotéis estão abertos, seguindo as medidas de segurança. Os banheiros públicos também. Lembre-se de manter um metro de distância das outras pessoas. Use álcool gel antes e depois de visitar lugares. Nós temos dois vidrinhos no carro. Usamos sempre que entramos no carro.
Obedeça os limites de velocidade. Muitas estradas tem limites bem baixos. Você vai encontrar muitos túneis e também pedágio em alguns lugares.
O que colocar na mala. Verão na Noruega tem todas as possibilidades. Pode fazer frio com chuva e vento, nublado quente, sol com vento e frio, sol sem vento e calor, muito calor de precisar de ar condicionado. Na minha mala tem desde blusa de baixo e meias de lã, botas de caminhada, um vestido elegante, até biquini, shorts e protetor solar.
