We’ve been so lucky this February in Norway!! It’s Sunny every single day. There’s enough snow to go skiing on frozen lakes everywhere. Even in the cities. You don’t even need to travel to enjoy this gift from Mother Nature. Norwegian landscapes are irresistible, and accessible to everyone. You know what? It doesn’t have to be only on Valentine’s Day. Take a moment to connect with your partner. It is priceless.

I have gathered my romantic tips. Check them out 😉

OUTDOOR ROMANCE.

Go for a walk. It’s Norway’s top activity. No matter what the weather is like. They say “there’s no such a thing as bad weather, just bad choice of clothes”. Specially this weekend, the weather forecast is marvelous. Enjoy the park or forest nearby. Norwegian nature is spectacular. Just remember to wear wool as first layer.

City mice? Go for a walk downtown, then. Most cities I know have gorgeous streets and architecture.

Picnic at the park. A nice walk at a park (or beach) can end up in a romantic picnic. Many parks have barbecue facilities. Bring warm clothes, seat pads, a thermos with cocoa or gluhwein (warm wine) depending on your taste. Sit by the fire and enjoy. Maybe play some music.

Ice skating. There are so many frozen lakes in Norway this February 2021. I find it romantic to go ice skating together.

Skiing. Also possible at the lakes and parks in the city. No need to travel. Equipment: don’t you want to invest in new skis right now? At Finn.no we find used skates and skis. At BUA, we can borrow them.

OUTDOOR ADVENTURE.

Hiking. Are you guys up for hiking in the Winter? Preikestolen (Pulpit Rock) is open for hiking. Just check the wind conditions and plan beforehand. Check my tips to Pulpit Rock here.

Car trip. Be it short or long. We love to drive around Stavanger region, like Ålgård. The landscape on the way is fantastic. It feels like a real trip. Stop, take pictures, admire the new places. There’s always a Cafe where you can warm up and get cozy.

My favorite: Stop to watch the sunset together.

INDOOR COZINESS.

Go to the movies. With Corona measures (distance and all), the movie theaters are empty. You’ll probably have the whole room just for the two of you.

Restaurants are allowed to serve food and drinks until midnight, according to the latest Corona measures updates in Norway. Do you prefer lunch? Check my favorite Cafes in Stavanger here.

At home. What romantic dish would you like to prepare? Takeaway is a good choice too.

Prepare the atmosphere…

Decoration. Norwegians value home décor much more than other cultures (like Brazilians, for example). They have imported many ideas from Danish designers. The trend is minimalism. A décor tv show I like is: Tid For Hjem (Time for Home) TV2. They make severe improvements on people’s living room, bedroom, terrace, etc. Good inspiration. There are countless sites to get inspired. Candles are a must have. I like this one:

Self care. How about a spa at home for two? Set the atmosphere with scented candles, essential oils, relaxing music. You can start the ritual with foot massage.

Less clothes. Turn on the heat or set up the fireplace. Pretend it’s Summer. Put on your Summer outfit. Turn on the music, eat light food. Enjoy. Check my dance playlist on Spotify.

Film night. How about a nice romantic film? Or tv show. Have you seen my top 19 Norwegian tv shows? Check them here.

I’d really like to have a chocolate fondue on Sunday. Let’s see if we manage. 🙂

I’d love to hear from you, what activities worked well for you. Remember that love is the most important ingredient.

Happy Valentine’s Day!!
