The finance minister’s party, FRP, had been part of the government since 2013, along with Høyre, Venstre and KrF. A colligation of four parties that guaranteed majority in the congress. FRP is right wing and has focused on cutting down taxes, investing in transports, building new tunnels and roads. They have played a role in narrowing the gate for new refugees to enter Norway.

The possible main cause is a disagreement between Høyre and FRP about bringing back to Norway a Norwegian-Pakistani woman connected to IS terror group and her two small children (5 and 3). She has been charged for participating in two terrorist organizations in Syria. The reason to bring them from Syria back to Norway is because the oldest child, a Norwegian citizen, is sick and needs proper care. This mother says she regrets getting involved with a terrorist.

It’s a critical issue for Norway. FRP stands for not compromising with those who have chosen to follow terrorists on free will. Høyre stands for protecting the child’s life, who is a Norwegian citizen.

Our prime minister Erna Solberg (Høyre) stated that they (three other parties) decided to bring them back, despite FRP’s opposition. The woman will be going to jail while the child will be treated at a hospital.

Yesterday, the 20th of January, FRP’s leader, Siv Jensen, said there was no other option for their party than to exit.

Changes. It’s the very first time a political party leaves the government voluntarily in Norway. Now, the three parties have no majority anymore. Some ministers will be replaced, like finance, and oil and energy.

  1. I think it’s a huge problem and a very difficult decision to make. Terrorism is the biggest issue in our days.
