2022 in Norway is called “skeivt kulturår” or “skewed cultural year” because of this date.

Fifty years ago, in April 1972, section 213 of the Norwegian Penal Code was repealed. The law, informally called as Gay Law, stated that sex between two men was a crime in Norway.

In 1978, due to an activist’s efforts, Kim Friele, homosexuality was no longer consider mental illness.

Now, in 2022, there was a meeting at the parliament with representatives of the LGBT and parliament members. The Norwegian government apologized to all victims of the ban on gay sex between men. In Norway, gay sex between women was never considered a crime.

Norway is a democratic country. Its focus is to include all citizens and eliminate prejudice. The constitution mentions that all humans are equal and that all kinds of prejudice due to race, color, belief, sexual orientation are forbidden. Norway is considered one of the countries with most acceptance of homosexuality.

Married couples have the right to adoption and assisted pregnancy.

In 1993, a registered partnership among couples of the same sex became legal. Gay marriage became legal since January 1st, 2009.

There’s a tv show called “Født i Feil Kropp”. Born in wrong body. It shows youngsters who were conflicted and wished to change gender. So the society seems open and understanding.

Room for improvement. Still, with all these wonderful inclusive measures, homosexuals do not get to donate blood unless they keep celibacy for a year.
